The Commuter’s Prayer

May I never become

A brain dead commuter

Sleep deprived and cowed;

Hollowed eyed, drinking in

The intellectual poison of

Metro

Or gazing, dumbly, at the tablet

Replay of yesterday’s reality TV

– In case you were fortunate enough

To miss it the first time around

You can Watch Again –

Dumb and dumber and dumbest.

May I skip away from this

Strangulation of the soul

Before it’s too late, and I turn 7.15

Zombie: animate, alive, yet in all

Significant aspects,

Dead.

Yes I pray that I may escape this

Living entombment

And find a fulfilling future elsewhere.
